After much hype and hyperbaly london fashion band of the moment able on to the tiny southend stage on the first night of their latest tour. having seen their recent credits as a support band (babyshambles, dizee rascal) you're expecting a heady mix of grindie and jaggered art tunes. What you get is just over half an hour of nice british indie. a bit like cast, remember them? Joe Lean - the hippest kid in drama school- is a cocky frontman with a suitabley 'now' swagger, like pete doherty without the inner ear infection, who chirps lyrics to bouncey art rock like its 1996. I am always sceptical of bands whose moniker involves the frontman's own name (jimi hendrix experience being a rare example of that paticular route working) and so can't see passed the ego of Mr Lean.
